Hello editors, publishers and fellow travelers...
I am a widely-published freelance writer and cultural anthropologist.
I specialize in travel, food and wine, adventure, spiritual, and cross-cultural writing.
I have lived and traveled in the diverse cultures of Europe, the circum-Mediterranean,
and the Middle East, as well as across North America. I currently divide my year
between Europe and the USA.
My writing appears in many publications, such as
Michelin Green Guides, National Geographic books, TransitionsAbroad.com,
MatadorTrips.com, TheExpeditioner.com, SouthSilkRoad.com,
The Pennsylvania Gazette, and in Archaeology, Expedition, Wag
and Bark magazines.
Prior to becoming a fulltime professional writer, I was a university professor,
an ethnographic consultant to diverse businesses, and then the editor for Expedition magazine.
I earned my PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in anthropology, with a specialty
in the cultures, languages, peoples, and histories of the western Mediterranean world.
This specialty continues to be my passion and most of my writing is about travel,
food and wine, adventures, spirituality, and cultures in Spain, France, Portugal,
and Morocco. I also write about other European destinations and about the USA.
