Welcome editors, publishers and fellow travelers... A passion for cultures and for travel is the force behind my work as a widely-published freelance writer and cultural anthropologist. I specialize in travel, food and wine, and cross-cultural writing. I have lived and traveled in the diverse cultures of Europe, the circum-Mediterranean, and the Middle East, as well as across North America. I love working with and talking to people from all backgrounds. I am very good at navigating, enhancing, communicating, and writing about those in-between places: between cultures, between people, between religions and spiritualities, between academics and the public, and even between vegetarians and meat eaters! I invite you to peruse my writing samples and send me an email. I am always ready to discuss your project. My writing appears in many publications, such as Michelin Green Guides, National Geographic books, TransitionsAbroad.com, SouthSilkRoad.com, MatadorTrips.com, The Pennsylvania Gazette, and Archaeology, Expedition, and Wag and Bark magazines. My book, The Spiritual Traveler--Spain: The Guide to Sacred Sites and Pilgrim Routes in Spain, is due out in Spring 2009 with HiddenSpring Books, an imprint of Paulist Press. It is the result of over 21 years of living in, traveling, and exploring all areas of Spain. In 2007, I spent four months backpacking across Spain, visiting sacred sites and walking diverse pilgrimage roads to discern the best of sacred and spiritual Spain. During that time I revisited some favorite old haunts and discovered some amazing new places. To receive an email with ordering information when the book becomes available, please click here. My Surfer's Guide to Asturias, Spain is up on MatadorTrips.com for surfers and arm chair surfers to read and enjoy. |
