The Esoteric Camino France & Spain (Sutro Media/Sutro World 2011)

Places along the Camino--the pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela in Spain--are more ancient than the Christian era. Even during the Christian period, curious Islamic, Jewish, and pagan elements were woven into the Road, the Way of St. James. The architecture, the use of symbols, idiosyncratic images carved in capitals, and the heavy devotion to Mary are keys to a more ancient and a more diverse past.

This app covers the most popular roads, the Camino Francés and the Camino Aragonese, with some forays into France along the road leaving from Le-Puy-en-Velay. Along these pilgrimage routes I have laid out the overall esoteric, mythic, and sacred groundwork, presenting many of the traditions and ideas that have folded themselves into the many Caminos.
